Just thought I would post a thread on where to buy certain gaming peripherals/games/Hardware etc for cheaper than most retailers; eBay is obviously an easy option for people who use it, but this is to also help people who don't/can't use eBay.

    Controllers
Controllers from most retailers are about (£25-30 - Wired) places like GAME will often do them at discounted prices. There are also a few 'unknown' retailers out there who will consistently sell controllers for around £18-24.

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/
(More of a community based seller, so it wont have consistent prices unless a retailer is advertising)

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/xbox-360-wired-gamepad-black-new-version?utm_source=google shopping&utm_medium=google shopping#
    (£24.50 inc. p+p)

    Headsets
    http://www.limexb360.co.uk/

Lime is probably the most known headset specialist for the UK competitive scene, although sometimes you can pickup headsets and other gaming add-ons for cheaper from other sites, this is generally the place that everyone uses for their first choice.

    There are also individual sellers:

(Where you get custom speaker tags from)

    Official Xbox headsets
Some people prefer not to pay £50 - £200 for a headset, which is fair enough, here is the bare essential that is needed for communication on XBL.

    Microsoft points
As people always usually post where to get these cheapest online (myself included) I thought that it would be best to just have a list (as I don't know all of them, if people can reply, I will update this; this applies for every section of this, if you know somewhere cheaper I will add it).

    Games
As money is quite tight for people atm, with it being an ecocnomical crisis and what not, some people do not like paying £40 (or there about for a new release game) unless they're desperate for it. Quite a good way around it is, if the game has been out for a while, 1-2 months, they're still generally full price (£35+) in most large retailers, some online retailers will do massive discounts on these games, to get interest and so people visit their site more often, although these discount are only available for a week or so, so you have to check regulary or catch it luckily.

    Monitors
As there has been a increase on threads about monitors, LCDs etc I thought that this would be a good list to put in. Some people who have HD capture cards (such as a HDPVR) might have to look for LCD TVs; as most monitors will not have the Component/YPbpr input.

There are various ways to use connect a monitor/LCD TV to an xbox, most of the time it is done through either component cable or HDMI. But there are also other ways for e.g. VGA. To do this you would need this cable: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003VD56...de=asn&creative=22206&creativeASIN=B003VD56JS

The TV/monitor 'end of the cable' is more widely used on monitors and is known as RGB (probably because it replaces the 'Red, Green and Blue' that would otherwise be on the compnent cable). This is what was used at ECL2 on the iiyama monitors, and will support upto 1080p, then you have the other red and white for the audio.

Most specialist PC websites will sell monitors. Most of which are compatible with the VGA xbox cable that I linked above, most LCD TVs willl be able to be used with that as well, but can also be used with component and HDMI. (All of the searches I have done, have been for 22" Monitors/LCD TVs).

Could a Mod sticky this please. I will keep the thread updated as much as I can; if there is any shops you know of which are good, or anything like that then reply and I will add it in. Also if there is another section that you think could be added to this then I will add it.

@eFFiGia Just looking at the iiyama monitors, which model was used at ECL mate?

    I think it's this one: http://www.iiyama-monitors.co.uk/products/E2209HDS-B1.aspx

I remember the one at ECL having like a squarish base and 2ms response time (I think, may have been 5ms).

If it was 5ms, would've been either of these:

Oh yeah, one of these 3 monitors are the ones you were looking for that were used at ECL I think @Tommey
