What are EGL doing with CG?

Don't know if there is a thread already but I'm just curious to know what/why things haven't be done on the site yet. From what I was aware they paid like 14k? for the site so it seems strange to me to just keep it dead.

Wasn't there mean't to be regular tournaments/ladders run on the site with this also being used to seed events/determine who goes to pro series events etc?

I just feel online on CoD games is dead nowadays, before there was regular online CoD4 tournaments which gave you a reason to come on and play, wanting to prove yourself in them to get into the top8 etc.

I don't play the game as it is but if I was actually in a proper team I would struggle to come on and scrim 5 maps on CTF over and over without a reason and the only time I could be assed was probably 1-2weeks before LAN.

vanity p2p, ante p2p, my league tritton tourny, vanity leagues and there's been like 4 lans in about 2 months. Nobody scrims as much anymore thats probably why it seems dead or that you haven't had a team to start the tournaments off with

@TommyD online tournaments are in abundance at the moment mate. The only time there's perhaps been more was in the 1DC fever period of the Black Ops season.

I guess theres been a lot of LAN events, but regardless what you say no-one/any top teams will bother with these tournaments as theres not a reason to tbh.

CoD4 IDC what anyone says, we all played them to break/keep places in the top8, no-one plays countless hours on the game for a end result of 40quid each if you win or a couple of headsets most people already have.

For me there just doesn't seem any reason for people to play ALOT online anymore other then preperation for LAN events, which wasn't the case on the old CoD's, no-one really mentioned LAN events etc until right before hand and all the talk was about the top8.

I just lack incentives to play this game and its not because I dont like it because I have played it a lot past couple of weeks but thats purely because I want to attend BoA/EGL and be able to compete with everyone.

Yeah i agree. I think having sooo many LAN's in such a short period of time has killed off online competition for the time being once the LAN's start to die down a bit i'm sure the top teams will be putting more time into online to keep their place in the top8 and if they don't then its their own fault tbh.

I just feel like we need some sort of incentive to play, and something silly like having that top8-to what ever was genuinely an incentive to play for people such as myself and people who are new to decerto.

Im guessing its something organizations can relate to when picking up teams/seeing there teams results etc also.

They should do some kind of points system for placements in online tournaments and for LAN tournaments instead of opinion based results which it used to be i think?

There was a thread on CG made recently about who destroyed the site... It evolved into a talk about what is happening now EGL has bought the site.

The T8 was utter bullshit and was hardly ever done on skill. Just on popularity!

Need to have some sort of system to earn ranking points and have a ladder to determine seeds for future LAN events. Match finder would be decent. ( sounds a lot like GB but it's IMO the way forward )

I swear there was a figure announced by Glenn, around the 10-15k mark, but regardless sounds good pal, look forward to announcements.

Noticed you said on CG that you'd be updating us pretty often with teasers of the new website, but have only managed to see one little picture. Not sure if I've missed the rest.

Hype this shit so the release is eagerly anticipated, get news posts up about stuff that'll be included and if there's any "surprises" then publicise them, drop hints etc so people spread the word.

There will be a 3rd screenshot going up tonight.

The news announcements will come in the next week, but we have alot of very exciting sponsors and tournaments for launch!

we tend to compete on the casual clan scene over at: www.thewgl.co.uk seems to be alot of tough competition in the higher leagues but also a good place for the casual clans too playign agaisnt clans of similar skill. worth a look for those willing to commit to a league

the egl online league site sounds interesting though look forward to the info if it aims for the casual scene then im sure XGL will eb able to support it.
