Disconnect on wireless regularly, alongside lag and poor upload/download speeds. My speed was supposed to be doubled months ago, I wouldn't hold your breath.

For everyone complaining about the Virgin Media double speed problem, if you go to there website and check which I'm guessing a lot of you have done. It gives it a window of about 3-4 or maybe even 5 months telling you around what month they will be doing it, plus they sent you a letter and email you when there going to do your area so if your mum pays the internet ask her nicely to see if she has had an email from Virgin Media or a letter.

To the people who think there internet will be double in the first month of your window, then you are dumb as it depends where you live and each area takes about 1-2 weeks to get a full double speed for stable reasons, you need to let them take there time otherwise it will fuck up simply as.

To fix the wireless problem just buy another router and use that for wireless insted of the VM super hub because it's a bag of wank.

Changing the wireless channel on the superhub is useless, the signal that it transmits is not strong enough therefore the signal is weak, you are best off buying a cable router and putting the superhub in modem mode and connecting the router to the superhub via the WAN port.

it does help in some cases (it helped for me), although yes the majority of the time it's down to virgin's shitty service/"hub"

I'm sure me and you have said this about 20 times to people and they still don't understand.

believe it or not it does actually help sometimes...maybe mine was the single anomaly nationwide but it worked

Forget me if i'm wrong you said 'Sometimes' it depends on the house and where the router is, but mostly all the time that never works so the best way like @vSneaKyv said buy another router and use the wireless on that instead. Problem solved.

you're right, but why not try any potential fix before spending money on a new router? it's internet, it's not textbook, wireless fucks up all the time and it isn't always a latency issue

Yes, you can try it but if you still have the problem of getting disconnected then the best choice is to buy a new router okay :D

Well I'm useless so I don't really know much about this stuff, but we use this:
    http://www.apple.com/airportextreme/
So I think the superhub is probably already in modem mode - I realise I should've mentioned this earlier.

My connection's got better than when I started the thread, I still don't get the speeds I should but it's not so much of a problem now - cheers for everyone's advice!

why does everyone complain about the virgin media superhub being shit yet still use it lol

Until Virgin Media update there superhub with the new firmware we have to use it, also we can't go and get another modem because Virgin Meida have a key on your connection.

Maybe different for some people, but now with the superhub you have to ring up and register it, so it only works on you connection.

Welcome to the crew mate. (Assuming you have the Virgin Superhub) When Usain Bolt come to sort my internet he said it was because BT announced theirs and so Virgin rushed their design and brought it out with major flaws. Apparently a new one is coming out soon and people who are having problems should get them free. Wireless is horrible directly from the SH, I ended up having to put a Netgear router near the edge of my room so it covers the full house. It works wonders and is miles faster than the SH virgin gave us.

I didnt need to register im sure of it, they come round and set it up for me. Unless Virgin done it, then possibly.

If they set it up for you, then they would have done it. But if you choose set it up yourself and they just delivery the router then you have to do it for security reasons.
