We've basically said goodbye to Black Ops now that MW3 has been released with only MLG Providence left. It's done us proud over the last year and has helped a scene that desperately needed some support to grow. Over the course of the year we've seen some amazing game play by some of the best players in the world and today we're going to name our Top 10 European Black Ops players. Of course there is certain criteria and whilst we'd love to include everyone, we've selected the top 10 best players in Europe who use the Decerto ruleset. These players are not in chronological order. They have been picked by the content staff based on the impact they've consistently made at events over the last year. Corentin 'Gotaga' Houssein We'll start off with one of the French beasts that first showed us who was boss at ECL2. His team (Mythix) smashed through everyone and claimed the title of EU champions in formidable fashion, sweeping aside many of the players in this list. His impeccable SMG skills also earned him a 2nd place finish in the FFA at that very same event. He's one of few players who can successfully tame the highest sensitivities. Unfortunately Gotaga, and some of the other mythiX players, boycotted some events in the ECL series but he still made an impact across the course of the game and no doubt we'll see him near the top on MW3. 2nd A4 Lyon 1st ECL2 2nd ECL2 FFA 1st RGT4 9/12th EGL London 1st Ultimate Gaming Tom 'Gunshy' Jones Gunshy at EGL London The ginger haired Welshman is probably one of the most highly achieved players in Call of Duty history and he didn't fail to deliver on Black Ops. Although he only attended events in the UK he did manage to make a huge impact winning the ECL2 FFA and the ECL3 4v4.Unlike some of the other players in this list, Gunsh enjoys to take things smooth and slow on sensitivity 2 or 3. He has never failed to perform at LAN and let's hope his form continues as he descends upon MLG Providence this weekend to send Black Ops off in style. 3rd ECL2 1st ECL2 FFA 2nd ECL Pro Series 1st ECL3 9-12th EGL London Maxime 'mAxxie' Ebran Maxxie at Cod XP in LA Maxxie has attended more events on Black Ops than any other player in the scene and has quite a healthy record for his troubles. Despite being a substitute in quite of a few of his attendances, the Frenchman's actually achieved the most out of anyone in this list. He's extremely skilled and extremely consistent and despite placing 9th/12th at EGL London he'll go down one of the Black Ops greats. If any of you have watched him play at events you'll know he's quite the showman, at times attempting to pistol people across map because he wanted to put on a show however when serious mode is enabled you can see him using the AR to deadly effect. Despite this he's always in high demand and we can't see that changing anytime soon. 1st HG Paris 1st A4 Lyon 1st RGT2 1st ECL Pro Series 4th ECL2 3rd ECL3 1st RGT4 9/12th EGL4 3rd Ultimate Gaming Nick 'XLNC' Ward XLNC at CoD XP in LA Although he thinks he's part Brazilian when he's clearly not, this Scotsman does have a fair few tricks up his sleeve. He won the ECL Pro Series with Power Gaming to kick off his Black Ops career but after a 4th place finish at ECL2 he decided to get back in the Fnatic fold. Once back he won ECL3 in Loughborough in convincing fashion that is known from one of the all time CoD greats. His aggressive SMG play style has tried to be copied by many but he remains one of the most consistent players out there. He'll no doubt he causing further damage with Gunshy in MLG Providence and it'll be interesting to see if his team sticks for MW3. 4th ECL2 3rd FFA ECL2 1st ECL Pro Series 1st ECL3 9-12th EGL London Scott 'Mak' Brass Mak at EGL London I don't think many people would think of Mak as one of the top 10 CoD players but you can't argue with the facts of 3 events, 3rd and then back to back wins. It doesn't get more consistent than that really. He's teamed with Fnatic the entire time and despite losing Gunshy and XLNC he still out placed them at EGL London by a big margin. I think it's time for everyone to accept that he is one of the great Black Ops players and can't be faulted when it comes to this game. He'll no doubt continue this form on MW3. 3rd ECL2 1st ECL3 1st EGL London Tom 'Tommey' Revenge Tommey at Reflex GT5 He showed us all his passion for the game when his Royalty team lost against Mythix, resulting in him almost fighting with the opposition across the ECL Blackpool stage. His temper calmed and not many can match his ability when it comes to attacking, clearly shown in his various montages on the game. He made an impact in every team he's been in and despite not always getting the results he wanted, he's always been one of the stand out players in each of his teams. 3rd ECL Pro Series 2nd ECL2 5/6th ECL3 1st RGT5 9-12th EGL London 1st Ultimate Gaming FFA 2nd Ultimate Gaming Tobi 'Tobi' Fisher As with Mak, it's time for an attitude change when it comes to Tobi, when everyone finally agree's he's actually not over rated and if anything, is under rated. His blistering SMG fire power was highlighted especially at EGL London when he became only the second CoD player to win back to back ECL/EGL events. Combined with great communication and an eye for great talent, he's not going to be placing outside the top for a while yet. 2nd ECL Pro Series 3rd ECL2 1st ECL3 1st EGL London Maxime 'Agonie' Di Falco The only player in this list who is neither French nor British is Belgium's finest export, Agonie. His blistering aim is aided by his love of a very high sensitivity and like his Mythix team mates he isn't someone you can afford to make a mistake against. You can see his work in his dualtage with Gotaga and it's almost breathtaking to think someone can shoot that well. He hasn't placed as well as some of the others but even when playing for lesser teams than Mythix, such as with Epyslon at RGT4, he shines. 2nd A4 Lyon 1st ECL2 7th RGT4 9/12th ECL4 1st Ultimate Gaming Jordy 'Karnage' Mercier Karnage at ECL2 in Blackpool playing for Mythix Before attending the Ultimate Gaming event in Belgium only a few days before MW3's release, Karnage was actually unbeaten at a LAN event for Black Ops. This may be down to him picking and choosing which events to attend that often left others in sticky situations, however no one can deny his confident and thoughtful playstyle was anything but brilliant. If he'd attended with Mythix for EGL London there is no doubt they'd have placed higher due to a better seeding and improved team work. Let us just hope that for MW3 he'll be less picky about his attendance so that we can see one of Europe's finest on show again. 1st HG Paris 1st A4 Lyon 1st RGT2 1st ECL2 1st RGT4 3rd Ultimate Gaming Sam 'Bissell' Bissell Bissell at EGL London with Foreign Shay The last but by no means the least in our list is Bissell, currently residing with Fnatic. One of the quieter pro gamers in the scene and as a result one of the less well known. When he was picked up by Fnatic for EGL London, many thought he wouldn't be able to get back into it after not attending an event since ECL2. He did however almost steal the show from his team mate and eventual MVP, Vapez, by completely destroying all pre-conceptions people had about him. Great communication followed up with clever play and a deadly shot meant we were all again reminded why he was part of this team. He'll hopefully be more active for MW3 and won't sit back and miss events like he did with Black Ops. 4th ECL Pro Series 4th RGT2 2nd ECL2 1st EGL London That's it for our top 10 Black Ops players from the last year. We hope you enjoyed reading and feel free to post your own top 10 below if you have a difference of opinion, or simply want to put them in order. mak and tobi are like the john o shea and wes brown of gaming won champions league and multiple premier league titles but are not in the top 10 lawl @morphmurphooahupthera
SlayR1 & mAxxie are different personns .. And also, Mohog and Monks might have done well but if you take a look, only players who won an event are in the list. Rumours were ridiculous, this top10 is very accurate imo
Why were there "rumours" about an opinionated list that carries no honour nor prize? Strange that people care. It is a funny list though.
well yeah but tommey is the only one who didn't win at least two (if you dont count XP qualifiers which was MLG) in the list and also tommey did well at Cod XP. Mohog is a v good and quite achieved player but still all the player in this top10 are more achieved than him
Not how it should be though, I imagine top10 blackops players to be the most skilled not the most accomplished. If that was the case monksy, crookz and swanny should be in the list.
Yh but if you are the most skilled then you are most likely be accomplished, if you aint accomplished much then you aint that skillful. But can think of a lot of players on this list, but to be honest dosent really mean much but well done to these guys.
Yeah yeah of course, just that individual skill is different to team skill and I thought this would be top 10 skilled players not accomplished. Well done to top 10 anyway lol
