Well guys I was thinking today about my gameplay and self proclaimed skill level and was wondering how to improve it? Lets say your new to the community just like myself and are thinking about making a team. I read another post earlier explaining why it's better to make your own team rather than spamming up the recruitment forum as the chances of an exprianced team taking you under their wing is a big risk which most teams wouldn't take.

So what I want to ask you guys is, what would you do if you were new to the community and doubted your skill compared to people who have scrimmed with you? Your looking for a team or are wanting to start one and aint 100% sure on how to go about it. Even if your semi new to the game and still don't know every spawn trap or call out?

what would you guys do if (or what did you do) when you were once a new*** like myself :)?

    'Perfect practice makes perfect'

Just keep scrimming and sweat to your hearts content. Watch, Listen and Learn off the people you're playing with.

Looks like one of the better new players to come to the community, good to see that you can write coherent posts. Enjoy your stay here, don't mind some peoples posts, it's just banter.

get a bunch of mates who you actually enjoy playing with. keep playing regardless of how well you do. once you feel your ready to move on start getting in more scrims, ask to pick up for teams. take a trial here and there.

and if your good enough to leave your friends behind it will happen. if not just keep having fun with your friends. best way.

    Basically what Granny said.

Also to the person who said "try to impress people" Some advice from myself. Good teams (obviously the teams you want to impress) pick up heavily on this, and realise virtually instantly when a player is playing for themselves and not the team. Its too easy to notice if a player is simply sat in the same spot constantly trying to get a monster KD, or not going for the riskier/important kills. This can have a huge reverse effect on yourself.

I see it far too often someone going hugely negative, but still at least try to get the job done, then realise their score looks **** on the board so sit back and try rack up to some kills, at the end of the game they 'think' they look alright and can match up to the better players/teams, but really we picked up your whole playstyle 10 minutes ago and realise your not a team player at all, so therefore would never look at picking you up.

Virtually everyone successful I know started a team with friends they bonded and got on well with and went from there. I honestly think 'FA' threads are kinda pointless unless your a well known player to begin with.

    Good luck.

Cheers mate, will take some of those points into consideration when scrimming. Basically I need to forget about the kd and think about the objective.

Well.. Not exactly, but 1 crucial kill can be worth 5 basic kills. If you understand what I mean?

Focus on teamwork more than anything and constantly keep the pressure on the other team.

Basically don't go for pointless kills if there is an important kill to be made, for example kill the person planting or grabbing a flag rather than that person sat in a corner.

Play some pick up scrims or scrims with your own team. Make call outs which are short and snappy which are easy enought to understand. Teamwork is key for this game so if you work well together, shouldn't be a problem.

This in a nutshell. One of the most perfect examples of this is at the start of the Sowersby CoD4 dualtage. I think it's Ash in the ravine on Overgrown Sabo, Dignitas attempt to defuse the bomb whilst another play tries pushing round on Sowerz but he makes sure to kill the defuser before the other player pushing on him.

Like Doped said, there's nothing worse than playing a scrim or pickup scrim and there's one guy just sweating his little heart out trying to impress. It's horrible to watch, and makes it really boring. If you're good enough, you will get noticed it's as simple as that. I noticed this a lot more on COD4 when pick-ups were actually fun. You'd get one guy on your team not even talking or having a laugh just because he's trying so hard to look good.

Prime example of this is Rebel. You'll never see him negative, EVER, but you'll also never see him in a "successful" team. He looks good though because of his K/D, eh?

Just have fun, play with people you like and if you are a good player and get lucky then you'll get picked up by a good team. If not then who cares, at least you've had fun playing with people you like.

I used to be a complete noob lol but I got into bensimo's team, I never got to play for like a week but I was watching them alot and got to play I done alright then after a few weeks I got alot better and it just kept happening until I became a starter. Basically play with people you like on xbox and you will all get better through learning

Its nice to actually see the community helping out people for a change instead of simply flaming. Keep it up, might clear this thread up and sticky it if there's more useful posts.
