"Rakaka can reveal that MLG will return to Raleigh for another event 2012. How MLG's 2012 season will look like, many people are eager to learn. What games will be played, how much prize money, how many events and where will they be located? Rakaka can reveal that one of the stops will be in Raleigh on 24-26 August. During the previous season Raleigh was one of the lesser-visited events of the year but has gained confidence at Sundance and others within MLG. A contributing factor could be that the Raleigh Convention Center in November, upgraded online system to 10 Gbit / s. Where the other events will be held and how the season will look like is unknown. MLG manager Sundance have expressed in various interviews, including with Forbes that one wants to give up just doing big events, but instead focus on more lengthy seasons that will extend between 44-50 weeks per year. Cooperation with IMG Worldwide will also lead to an international expansion, which could mean a European event in 2012." source: rakaka.se
Is this a fact or just another persons opinion? If they think it will make them money and gain more fans, they will.
They have spoke about it for a couple of years but according to the vVv owner, MLG arn't planning to come to Europe anytime soon due to several reaons, I'm guessing locations, activity, they get 100+ teams attend and our best is 64 at London? , lack of "equivilant pro players to USA." Not going into too much detail but if you think why it's not practical for them to come to Europe as of yet then you will figure it out yourself.
As you know the EU COD scene has been growing though. How many teams attended ECL1 compared to EGL? It has grown in such a short amount of time. They might not come within the next year, but they will come. I'm not even gonna get into this as I frankly can't be fucked. But look at it as I do, if it will make them money from a different audience, then why won't they come?
Whilst that's pretty understandable, we can have a nice look of the facts that we do know. And it's quite obviously that MLG would like to expand into Europe Taken from http://www.decerto.net/v4/index.php?threads/mlg-partners-up-with-img.30746/
COD could be getting 200 teams over here and it wouldn't influence their decision. Same goes for Halo. MLG is all about StarCraft now.
i have a strong source that has told me there is going to be 2 events in US (Raleigh being one) one in Canada and 2 in EU (UK and France are favourites) before anyone asks i cant tell you who this is as he shouldnt of told me
