Most people within our console competitive community will tell you that the scene is as big as it's ever been. With record attendances at EGL5 and other large scale events, competitive console gaming would seem to be rising in popularity. However, one thing that has always stunted the growth is the lack of sponsorship opportunities, mainly due to the very reason why console is so appealing; there's no need for expensive peripherals such as keyboards and mice. It's as simple as a controller and a monitor. However these lack of sponsorship opportunities often hit organisations that centre their operations around console. We see time and time again that they fold when money dries up or when the owner loses interest, most recently with LiNK Gaming. Whilst they have since reinstated their activity, VYE, a well known name within console gaming have decided that it is their time to shut up shop. As always it's bad to see an organisation like VYE close but as the adage goes: as one door closes another opens, perhaps we will see another organisation ready to take their place. VYE co-owner Joe 'RCN' Tuley had this to say: "Today is a very sad day here at VYE, as we are left with no alternative to close our doors for the foreseeable future. In this current climate we have found it very hard to gain new sponsors/partners that could secure the running of the business itself. As well as this the time that is needed to fully focus on our goals to become the best, and continue to deliver result after result." source: www.myvye.net Please follow us on Twitter for the latest news, articles and media!
Goodbye. but tbh didnt liked their latest team anyway. apart from @Falconer hes sound. #hostboot EDIT : Sick Org.
Shame to be honest. Although they weren't as big as Dignitas or Fnatic, VYE have been a consistent name in the UK scene for as long as I can remember. For an org like this I guess it is always a case of how long the owners stay interested. I imagine they were relying on investment from their owners/staff.
Such a shame to see another large, popular UK based org close it's doors, good luck to all the management, staff players etc in the future.
Shame to see them go, one of the long lasting UK orgs. Hopefully 4K will take their place and get into console so more UK orgs arrive. Should do since console CoD is mainly UK based
