also, anyone can win ECL, its different on lan when people like swanny cant ride their connections lol jk
i wish youd leave us alone, you should rephrase that to validus went to EGL with fraser and ended up coming 3rd
The only other problem is the majority of people's mentality and the way they look at LAN's - that they only see point in going if they have a good chance of winning. This shouldn't be the case. Enthusiastic gamers should go for the experience and the exciting atmosphere over anything else, with winning something being a bonus.
When prizes were being handed out for top 3, only a handful of teams could make the top 3 spot. Now that prizes are being given out for top 6, pretty much every team have a chance of walking away with money. OT: Good read Emo, should of been posted a few weeks ago though.
200 of the 256 Halo teams that attend MLG know they have no chance of winning anything, not necessarily ever, but definitely not in the first year or even 2. They go because it's genuinely an awesome experience, and some of them actually do make the most of the LAN practice and place better and better before finally making it to the champ bracket. You should go to one to see for yourself. If you don't like it then at least you know that you've made an effort to experience it first hand.
At the end of the day ure asking people to attend ecl to keep the comunity alive but what comunity the cod4 or the mw2 one for months many people where under the impression that ecl was a mw2 event then it suddenly switched to cod4 So lets look over this ure asking to shell out the best part of £300 to play a game that was a last resort to salvage ecl from being a total failure yh people where a little bit miffed that mw2 was not going to be there but the comunity is not gonna keel over and die if theres a poor turnout personally i think ege is going to be the decider where for the comunity is goin lan or going to be completerly online
CoD isn't the deciding factor of the success of an event, other than EGL which was practically catered purely towards it. Maybe if it starts producing more than 20 team turnouts, but who knows when that'll be. The best thing the community has done so far was the last minute EGL attendence. 17 teams with 3 weeks notice was good, but the bottom line is that it's yet to hit 20. The sad thing is, when it does make it, it will be an achievement. Better late than never but either way, it's terrible.
suddenly, as in 2months ago? people should definitely try and get to ECL just for the experience. we made a team for EGL 2days before the event and it was a class experience and we didn't mind we went out pretty early.
mw2 is horrific, cod4 is fun and good whatever game it is anyway, we all play cod so we should all realistically attend id even attend if it was cod waw (ps sick game)
EGE will not be the "decider", EGE will mean **** all for this community, for games like black ops to be 16+ or pegi 18 its the UK lans that need to have a good turn out!
A few months back I posted up saying I wanted to put a team together for ecl to help the community out, I got absolutely no interest whatsoever, nothing will change
not being funny but last time i checked this comunity was a call of duty one so ofcourse call of duty is going to be a factor of success to us not the event on a whole because tbf who on this website is going to care about some other games attendance when the call of duty one is all that matters to this comunity ,anyway just trying to get my point across was a good read just some things ticked me off abit ,and i agree the split in the comunity is frustrating
Spose this is where im gonna get flammed , no im not going to be going ecl as im on holiday but Opal is a possibility and EGE is definate unless somthing goes majoly wrong
The only issue with LAN is money. Oviously everyone would love to attend and support the community but no1 knows what type of situation people are in-life wise. A percentage of the community do not take the game seriously enough to pay to play and every1 should respect that. Still you talk about how the scene would change to an online community. Why is this a bad thing? intrigued to see some people's viewpoint. This is in no way meant to discredit you at all emo i'm just curious.
