EGL7 is coming to a close with some surprising results. It seems as if a lot of the top teams haven't progressed to the heights that would have been predicted. Here we have a in-depth look at these teams that promised so much, yet some delivered so little.

    TCM-GAMING 9/12th

EGL 7 has been spoilt with some of the most talented Call of Duty players from around the world and it seems the high calibre has proven to overwhelming for the TCM-Gaming side. They entered the event with the 3rd seed hoping to improve upon their previous performance at EGL5, however after facing the 4Kings squad they were lowered to the losers bracket and from that point they had a long road ahead of them to achieve that 3rd place seed and beyond. Nonetheless their journey was terminated by the US pro team FeaR who sent them packing with a 3-0 white wash, which left them with an uninspiring placement of 9th-12th.

    DIGNITAS 5/6th

It seems that Dignitas have well and truly felt the grunt of the US attendance after defeating some of Europe's finest, day 2 has left them finishing 5/6th awaiting their placement match after being knocked into the losers bracket by Optic-Gaming then finally being sent home by FeaR. They managed to overcome teams such as Prophecy, however the US force appeared too much for them and in their final game they were somewhat thrashed 7-0 4-0 and 4-1.

    PMP 13/16th

An interview with Gotaga revealed the teams frustration with the unseeded nature of the FeaR squad, Optic-Gaming upon attending their first event were given the 2nd seed due to their performance overseas, however FeaR were not granted the same privilege which resulted in them being entered into the tournament seedless. PmP were burned by EGL's decision as their 8th seed became somewhat meaningless with them facing FeaR in the WBR 2 and then rapidly being diminished to the losers bracket. Their troubles were not over there, as they fought their way through the bracket where they were finally greeted by an ultimatum in the form of the FeaR squad, who yet again beat them to end their tournament run.

    PROPH 9/12th

Day 1 held so much promise for the hopes of Europe to win the tournament, but their Day 2 began with a European showdown between themselves and Dignitas, which Dignitas managed to just edge their way to success winning a close 3-2 series. Prophecy began working towards their 4th place seeding by knocking out various European teams but were eventually halted by the SK-Gaming in arguably the most entertaining game of the event. After taking a strong 2-0 lead the squad began to deteriorate and crashed out the tournament with a crushing 3-2 loss.

    APEX 7/8th

The apeX squad formed of Monksy, XLNC, Torres and Vapez held so much promise coming into this event. Former event winners and consistent high achievers filled the roster meaning that anything outside of the top 5 would seem to be a bit of a disappointment. At the start of the tournament the team started off strongly, not dropping a map in their first game, sweeping aside Inception with relative ease. After that, facing up against LiNK they were tested for the first time, but remained supreme with a 3-2 finish. Only when they met Phobia.Pro was their run damaged, forcing them into the lower bracket to face surprise team Infinitus. After dispatching them via a 3-0 scoreline they were to face FeaR. After what was a mediocre first day for FeaR, they managed to rally themselves together and defeat the apeX side, relegating them to a measly 7th/8th place finish.

Hopefully every team will stick it out, don't fall to the obvious and change rosters as you'll just be in the same boat next event with new faces.

True, but it's hard to keep motivation after not doing as well as you'd expected, also the ORG's that have funded teams to represent them aren't too understanding.

Honestly mate, orgs are far more understanding when u say u wanna improve as a team then saying we wanna replace a player or two...the dropping happens because most teams have already split before the weekend is over.

Expecting Dignitas to win i46 with OpTic likely to not attend, they certainly looked like the best EU team, would of been good to see Dig v SK.

I think proph gonna be by times better again on i46. They obviously had a bad tournament but they will improve again. Also if I'm right apeX.Collapse will be attending i46.

OpTic>FeaR>Collapse... Don't see why the top EU teams can't beat Collapse.
