too much for too short notice. hours are scarce at work at the minute and have gym membership etc. to pay?

Mate, just don't bother getting into this, you don't have an understand of basic economics clearly. When an American team buy a $200/$240 team pass they don't think about how much it costs them in British Pounds. You're undermining the concept of relative purchasing power. Even the exchange rate was 1 to 1, £1 might take you further in the UK than $1 does in the US.

£50 ticket would leave you £150 for everything else.

Was £10 extra going to make all the difference? This is the first UK console LAN since EGL and i38 and £10 is going to change that much is it. Ok.

regardless of all the currency stuff.

were still paying the same as we would for an MLG event which is silly. as you said mlg has been around for years and has enough customers to charge what they wish and they know regardless of price people will show because its MLG.

ECL has never happened before and has no foundations to work on, so making it the same price as the biggest console event in the world is a joke imo.

start cheap and increase the price. even if you make a loss surely its worth it in the long run for the growth of europe?

Either, Everyones stingey as ****, This Community is basically the foundation of Console E-sports for EU. Youve got to give a little to get something back. You attending this event. paying the price which is no doubt required for something of this scale will help to prmote the Esport community and help make it big.

    Or

your all poor as ****. Now come on i know we had a recession but.. its not that much..

if you really dont want to pay the £50 to potentially get your ass handed to you then go spectator and have a laugh for the weekend.

Id go if i wasnt on Holiday but id never planned to do. If i had planned id still be going. probably as a spectator seen as i dont have a team etc for this.

Actually yes, i do have 'an undertand' of basic economics. Obviously when an american team buys an MLG team pass with their american dollers they aren't going to think about how much it would cost them in pound sterling, why would they? I am fully aware of the concept of relative purchasing power (i could go into it, but i'd rather save me the typing and you the reading as you're clearly well aware of it), and that we might get more for our pounds in the UK and the americans get for their dollers in the U.S. My basic point is that you were saying/implying that we feel we're being hard done by with the ECL ticket price, whereas the Americans are more than happy to pay comparitively more than what we pay for their events- I don't think that's the case, both based on your own figures posted and what the real value of those ticket prices are to people in the UK and U.S. therefore i don't see the 'Americans will pay more, why wont we' argument as a valid one.

Anyway, i've pretty much said what i wanted to say, it's a pointless argument tbh. And i'm sure that you and the ECL team have spent a lot of time thinking about ticket prices, making them relatively 'fair' and thinking about what we're gonna get for our money. Ill be putting up £50 for the event come july, and hopefully lots of others will too.

It should probably be a sacrfice made by both sides in such a close nit community based event. Its going to cost a hefty amount for a small based company. and therefore the price will reflect the cost. I doubt there looking to make a killing on something thats a new product.. But any company realises they cant jsut make an instant loss from set up.

Thats like opening a clothes shop and selling everything for £5 less than its worth.

MLG charges way over what it could charge because its a well established company. It wil have reletavily low costs now compared with when it started and therefore goes for the market price and makes good profit.

This event needs to charge this price to cover the cost to maintain a sustainable profitable company.

Stop comparing it to mlg prices seriously they can fford ot have it them rpices clearly down to sheer amount of sponsors and the turnout and the spectators there, you really have no reason to compare them, on the other hand it is rather stupid changing from a game that only 18+ can play to a game where you can get parental consent and only bneed to be 16 and then to go and put up prices up and say that if you have a job it is nothing well im pretty sure it is manily 18+ people have a jobs that will be able to easily fork out this money that 16- kids that possibly dont and might not being to get 200'ish quid off there parents, HOW EVER i dont think the prices are that bad for a BYOX and to play it for aslong as you want , that is great IMO

well everything has gone up, Look if it was just the ticket prices which were more than expected then I would happily go , the fact all things are stupidly more than I expected them to be, I remember people saying they could do XL with £100 , this has turned out to be like £300. Sorry but I cant afford that on my current wage on short notice.

    Yes Im A Lan Dodger.

If you want my personal opinion, particularly in terms this community, some people were never going to go regardless of the price.

A 10 mile train journey is an adventure for some here, a 1000 mile trip to some Americans on the other hand is the least of their worries.

    OSH pew pew.

Loads of people probably can't lol, I wonder how much it would actually cost, overall, atm it's 50 MIN to get in, excluding monitor costs.

IF YOU ARE WORRIED about going out straight away, pay the extra tenner and get to play all weekend anyway!! These BYOX suits will be filled up fast. Best thing about i38 was the BYOX we just sat playing GB's all night all on host, getting Pizza delivered right to our desks lol it was actually quality.
