also the whole MLG argument, a huge appeal of it is the pro players.

I mean i want to go MLG just to see T2 as hes a hero.

people on cod4 get to play the top teams all the times in scrims and they know everyone.

the thought of your team getting really far in the tournament and maybe meeting one of the pro teams in the later stages of the brackets is really exciting. you become a celebrity in your own right for the day.

    ECL doesnt have that.

Ye but harry MLG started out like this. People are looking at this 50 quid as a lump sum. XL was 20 quid spectate 25 quid for a game and 10 quid for the FFA so thats 55 quid. 70 Quid for everything is a good deal me personally i wouldnt bring my xbox cba to sit at and event and play xbox all day, go for the tournement and then do stuff rathing than sitting back down on a xbox.

That has come about in MLG over time. Please be realistic and use your brain, we have to develop this 'pro culture' pretty much from scratch. It will happen, but these things take time. The American scene is successful because it focuses on anything but the short-term. Their price for a team pass used to be $200, it's now $240. Prices are barely even an issue for them.

People keep referring to ECL as Europe's answer to MLG yet nothing has been shown to us (bar a few numbers) to show that this is seriously the case.

It's our minimum ambition. What would you prefer? ''Guys, this is Europe's answer to Chillaz's back yard Social LAN, please do come it will be very good.''

A £50 tournament pass allows you to remain at the event for the whole weekend.

So depending on how the currencies are looking MLG is basically cheaper than ECL; stop making out as if americans are willing to pay more, when by what you're saying their actually paying less for 4 people to compete.

yeah of course they can raise the price now as its super successful.

ECL is the first time, so making it the same price if not more than MLG doesnt make sense.

anyway as i said, price doesnt matter for people who love LAN and have been going since forever.

the price should be used as a way to attract new people like me not push away.

How does exchange rate have anything to do with this? The purchasing power of the American Dollar, in America, has nothing to do with the purchasing power of the British Pound in Britain.

Also, their traveling costs compared to ours>

By reading through this thread I think it is clear the general oppinion is that the prizes are quite high. So now it isn't up to the community to deal with it, but the ECL management team. Will these prizes affect the turn-up? That is for you to decide.

It has everything to do with it if you're implying, which you were, that the American's pay just as high if not higher entry fee's than we do even though by your figures four people will pay £200 for an ECL team pass, a sum which after it has been converted to dollars depending on how strong the dollar is against the pound is likely to get you an MLG team pass with a little bit of money left over (obviously a british team competing at MLG would need to pay extensive travel fee's which would far outweigh any benefit incurred owing to the strenght of our currency, but it's still wrong to say that they're paying more for their events than we are when clearly they aren't).

As far as travel costs go i have no idea about the price of domestic flights in America but i would assume that they have companies like Ryanair who can fly you hundreds of miles for as little as £20 return; granted their travel costs are likely to be slightly more than ours, but again, i don't see that they're paying a whole lot more than we are for their events.

How much are tickets for MLG?

just a question. I personally don't think it's alot of money and expected something around that.

    $60 Doller each
But with hwo ever many spectators and funding to bring up the doller needed for an event of its kind. ECL doesnt have that much coeverage and funding
