Boasting a plethora of titles across 3 separate platforms, gamers from all over Australia migrated to the New South Wales capital to compete against one another for cash, prizes & boasting rights at ESGN's Winter 2012 event. After an intense weekend and dramatic day final day, including the MW3 teams migrating from the original LAN venue, to an internet cafe to play out their remaining matches, the grand final of the ESGN Sydney Winter LAN has just finished between apeX & Mindfreak. With a similar turn out to last weekend's ACL event in Melbourne, 9 teams converged onto the Roundhouse venue to go up against each other for cash & prizes, as well as claiming back the throne as being Australia's top team. Retribution seemed to be the only thing on the apeX mind after they were convincingly defeated by the Mindfreak powerhouse last weekend 6-4 in Melbourne. They did however enact revenge and after once again going into the grand final 3-2 up, this time they kept their cool and took the remainder maps to make it 6-2 overall. It's the first title for team under their new apeX organisation banner and they take home the top cash prize for their troubles. Rumour has it, the next time these two teams meet may very well be at EGL8 as they compete on foreign ground with much bigger and more established players to get through. ESGN Winter Final Placements 1. apeX.anXiety (Buzzin, GeeMon, Fighter, Shockz) 2. Mindfreak eSports (Naked, zeeeQ, FluenZa, Macka) 3. Cruelty Incarnate (Vilesyder, GooseJuice, Metal, Vamped/Renzy) 4. Carrion (MagicKebab, Renzy, OzFalcon, Croz) Please follow us on Twitter for the latest news, articles and media!
Nice to see apeX winning the title back. I think it's good despite the poor attendance the top teams still turning out. Australian MW3 scene action plan should be; Make it turn up and play Only have one event organiser or if you have two, stop doing it the next weekend.
As has been the tradition this year, we've had 2 LANs on 2 consecutive weekends every 3 months. It makes it so difficult for people to choose/to go to one.
They Have it during the 2 week school breaks if one were to change it would see a massive drop in people.
